What lure does a filthy habit like smoking have-

I 8 weeks clean and still got that twitch that tells me, quit smoking now, “c on you know you want to have one.” I wonder what is that and why does it persist. It occured to me today that a part of me (my unhealthy junkie part) is just missing the drama of it all. But what am I getting from smoking and what might I be missing? First there the excited elated feeling of the drug surging through your viens from the first one. Then there the oh no I feel like strange now and I need something, oh yeah I need another cigarette. And then there the I feel strange and twitchy I need something, oh yeah lets have a cigarette. And then there the oh crap I forgot to pay the ….. oh yeah I need a cigarette. And then there the I didn get that job because I not good enough, oh I need a cigarette. My relationship failed because … I need a cigarette. And so it continues for ever and ever until I put a concerted amount of effort into reversing it. Now that I am not smoking I am left with …. well I don know ……( fill in blank )…… it must just be me, stop smoking now, life and my issues. There no need to punctuate any of it with a cigarette. I seeing how the cigarettes allowed me to delay and avoid dealing with things because the compulsion for the fix was stronger than anything and consequently cigarettes became my primary focus. Now I am seeing how this helped to overshadow things that I should have been paying attention to.
